Meet Isaac Kilusu, your dedicated birding companion and tour leader at Nungunungu, bringing passion and expertise to your avian adventures. From his early days energetically chasing baboons in the woods to becoming a skilled bird sound recordist, Isaac's profound connection with nature has shaped his journey. His fascination for nesting birds sparked in childhood and evolved into a lifelong commitment to birdwatching, field guiding, and citizen science.
Isaac's journey includes pivotal moments like discovering the remarkable intelligence of weaver birds in a third-grade book, setting him on a path where passion meets career. His active engagement in citizen science projects, co-authoring papers, and leadership roles in birding communities showcase his authority in the field.
As a founder of the Tanzania Birders Community and Kilusu Bird Club, Isaac has united bird lovers and introduced innovative technologies like the eBird app, enhancing data collection efficiency. His role as a bird sound recordist, with over 2350 cataloged bird sounds on Xeno Canto, has contributed to cutting-edge birding applications and Orniverse, guiding enthusiasts through the birding wonders of Kenya and Tanzania.
With over nine years of guiding experience, Isaac has led successful birding tours across Kenya and Tanzania. His knowledge, passion, and eagerness to share make him the go-to guide for immersive birding experiences. Isaac is not just a leader; he's a dedicated bird enthusiast, versatile sound recordist, and a respected figure in the global birding community, contributing significantly to bird conservation in East Africa and beyond.
